Thank you so much my friend!!!
This project has every ounce of my effort, energy, personality, and enthusiasm all tangled up in it. What started as a fun b-movie parody project has morphed into a gigantic alternate-reality science-fiction world that even overwhelms me sometimes. And I want to do it justice and finish it right.
Through the course of this project, many talented people have wanted to be a part of the process, and have lent their abilities to making it better and better. I want to pay these people for their contributions moving forward, and give them resources to do awesome stuff like make alien costumes, create crazy special-effects makeup, and build sets. I want to be able to secure historic Chicago locations and make the city POP as a character in a way that I haven’t yet been able. I want to do a shot on the same level as the Star Wars cantina scene, except in the jazz age with werewolves doing the Charleston.
And most of all, I want to make the books. I want to create a real, tangible object that is large enough to appreciate all the little easter eggs hidden in the images that drive the narrative along. I want MORAY to be an immersive experience, and to start a snowball reaction that hopefully includes live-action, podcasts, and an extended universe fleshed out by the countless talented authors, artists, and musicians that I have met in my time in Chicago.
That’s what this campaign is about, being able to do this project right…and being able to reward investors with quality incentives. The support of Tumblr, and all of my family, friends, colleagues and fans is what drove me this far on the project. I know that it can be even bigger, wilder, cooler, and more ridiculous than it is already. I hope you’ll consider helping us out, and I promise we will make good on your support.
